Is me. So I put my paintings all over the house so that I can look at them (basically a glance) as I go about my business. I find that this helps me see what is not working with a painting. I have been doing this lot recently.
When I notice something isn't not quite right, it begins to bug me. Eventually I have to decide to paint over the work, which I have done many times, or fix it. Recently I have been in a fix it mood as the paintings were all bad, just not quite all there.

I had it hanging in a frame in my dining room. Nope not working for me. I found that the painting was lacking in value changes so that it was dark for the most part. I have been working on another painting and Ana McCormack, my art teacher, speaks a lot about the "drama of light". This painting didn't have it.
So a couple of more hours on it to increase the "drama":

I added the sky so that it explained the color in the water, made the dark areas darker so that the lighter areas stood out more, made the reflections in the water look more like reflections, simplified shapes, and added more light in the lighter areas.
I think it is much better than before. I will stick it back in its frame to see if it speaks to me again about needing some changes.
